The "green fluor of Alston Moor" Brewster studies here is not actually from Alston Moor. No green fluorite is found there. It is undoubtedly from Weardale, from were it was taken to the mineral dealers in Alston, there to be mis-labelled. 1838 was long before the famous Heights Mine & Rogerley Mine green fluorite sources were established in Weardale. The crystals are most probably from the Middlehope Sheild Cross Vein accessed from Whites Level, Westgate. It produced world-class daylight fluorescent green fluorite from 1818.
