Phosphine Smoke-rings & Explosive Polymerisation Produced in Adrian's Splendid Chemistry Laboratory

Adrian from Ireland has created a wonderful "Cathedral of Chemistry" - a home laboratory par excellence!
Not only is his lab stocked with an extensive range of chemicals in vintage reagent bottles, he has acquired some lovely glassware and has built a church organ in the lab for suitable dramatic music to accompany his experiments. 

In the following videos, Adrian shows us the preparation of phosphine gas from yellow phosphorus & sodium hydroxide solution (& its pyrophoric nature), and then the explosive polymerisation & carbonisation of  nitro aniline by conc. sulphuric acid.
